The Montefiore Club, now in its 125th year of existence, takes its name from that of the distinguished British philanthropist who was knighted in the 19th century by Queen Victoria.

A candidate for membership is a person of good moral character who has a sense of community. Candidates require a proposer and a seconder, both of whom are Club members in good standing. Young adult memberships are offered to persons under 40 years of age, and all individual categories provide equal privileges for spouses.
